Female Voters Surpass Male Counterparts in Manipur Electoral Rolls, Exceeding National Average: Officials

Imphal, Jan 6 (NationPress) The overall gender ratio in the electoral rolls of Manipur is 1,070, which is considerably above the national average of 948, officials reported on Monday. Election authorities indicated that women voters consistently exceed male voters in Manipur.

Officials mentioned that the national gender ratio within the electoral rolls improved from 940 in 2023 to 948 in 2024.

Manipur's Chief Electoral Officer, Pradeep Kumar Jha, stated that in the latest electoral rolls, 10,61,979 female voters have outnumbered the 9,92,140 male voters, as published on Monday.

He added that following a special summary revision of the photo electoral rolls, with January 1, 2025 as the qualifying date, the final photo electoral rolls for all 60 Assembly constituencies were released on Monday.

According to the final electoral rolls, the gender ratio stands at 1,070 compared to 1,069 in the draft electoral rolls published on October 29, 2024.

The elector population ratio is recorded at 55.37%, an increase from 54.84% in the previous draft rolls.

The total number of voters in the final electoral rolls is 20,54,387, indicating a net increase of 19,727 with 10,61,979 female voters, 9,92,140 male voters, and 268 third-gender voters.

Jha noted that 29,468 new electors were enrolled during the revision period, comprising 13,348 males, 16,118 females, and two third-gender individuals.

The Election Commission has made dedicated efforts to register new voters currently residing in relief camps across various districts.

The Manipur government has established 302 relief camps in different districts to accommodate over 59,000 individuals affected by ethnic violence.

During the special summary revision, the Election Commission also conducted an extensive voter awareness campaign under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative to maximize the enrollment of eligible voters in the rolls.
