New Delhi, April 15 (NationPress) A significant fire erupted at Lokbandhu Hospital in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh late Monday night, necessitating the urgent evacuation of more than 200 patients to various other hospitals across the city.
The blaze reportedly ignited on the second floor of the facility and rapidly escalated before patients and staff could fully grasp the severity of the situation.
Tragically, one patient among the 24 transferred to Civil Hospital was declared deceased, although the remaining patients were reported to be in stable condition, as per a doctor at Civil Hospital.
Upon receiving the alert, several fire brigade units, along with local police from the Krishna Nagar police station, promptly responded to the scene. After several hours of intensive effort, the fire was successfully contained.
The initial assessment by hospital officials suggests that the cause of the fire may have been a short circuit. The electricity supply to the hospital was immediately disconnected, and firefighting measures were conducted utilizing generators for power and lighting.

Dr. Ajay Shankar Tripathi, Medical Superintendent of Lokbandhu Hospital, noted that the fire started around 10 p.m. and confirmed that the situation is now completely under control.
All patients within the hospital were successfully evacuated with assistance from medical staff, security personnel, and rescue teams. The hospital staff, including doctors, nurses, and attendants, acted promptly, despite the panic and disarray instigated by the sudden fire.
Information Director Shishir Singh verified that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath promptly acknowledged the incident. He received updates via phone and directed senior officials to arrive at the hospital to ensure the utmost safety and medical attention for all affected individuals.
