Dinhata Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Prashant Debnath addressed reporters, stating, “Five workers tragically died after being electrocuted while operating a lift intended for construction work. Initial reports indicate that three of the deceased hailed from Bhetaguri, while two were from the Okrabari area. This incident is deeply unfortunate, and the matter will be investigated thoroughly. The administration will provide support to the families affected.”
Following the news of the accident, tensions rose in the area as relatives of the deceased rushed to the hospital, demanding a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
