Guwahati, Jan 18 (NationPress) Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his profound gratitude for the guidance and blessings received from Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the state's development trajectory.
In a post shared on social media, the Chief Minister remarked that the last two days were exceptionally motivating for Assam, highlighted by the inauguration and launch of numerous major projects aimed at enhancing development, connectivity, and cultural engagement.
CM Sarma emphasized that the Prime Minister's visit marked the beginning of several crucial projects intended to expedite Assam’s growth while advancing infrastructure and transportation networks statewide. He added that these initiatives are a testament to the Centre’s unwavering dedication to Assam’s sustained progress.
The Chief Minister also highlighted that, in addition to development and connectivity initiatives, cultural events held during the visit showcased Assam’s rich heritage and increasing self-assurance. He stated that such endeavors have fostered a sense of pride among the populace while putting the state’s traditions on a national stage.
Sarma noted that the Prime Minister's leadership and encouragement continually motivate the state government’s initiatives to guarantee inclusive growth, balanced regional development, and a brighter future for Assam.
Notably, on Sunday, PM Modi conducted the bhoomi pujan for the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor Project (expansion of the Kaliabor-Numaligarh segment of NH-715), valued at over Rs 6,950 crore.
This 86-km-long Kaziranga Elevated Corridor project is an environmentally sustainable highway initiative. It will incorporate a 35-km elevated wildlife corridor traversing Kaziranga National Park, a 21-km bypass, and the widening of 30 km of the existing NH-715 from two to four lanes.
The project aims to enhance regional connectivity while safeguarding the park’s rich biodiversity. The route will pass through the districts of Nagaon, Karbi Anglong, and Golaghat, significantly improving access to Upper Assam, especially Dibrugarh and Tinsukia.
The elevated wildlife corridor will facilitate the uninterrupted movement of animals and mitigate human-wildlife conflicts. Additionally, it will enhance road safety, shorten travel time, reduce accident rates, and accommodate increasing passenger and freight traffic.
As part of the project, bypasses will be constructed at Jakhalabandha and Bokakhat, which will assist in alleviating congestion in towns, enhancing urban mobility, and improving the quality of life for local residents.
During the event, the Prime Minister also inaugurated two new Amrit Bharat Express trains -- the Guwahati (Kamakhya)-Rohtak Amrit Bharat Express and the Dibrugarh-Lucknow (Gomti Nagar) Amrit Bharat Express.
These new train services will bolster rail connectivity between the Northeast and Northern India, ensuring safer and more convenient travel for citizens.
Among the dignitaries present at the event were Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, CM Sarma, and Union Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal and Pabitra Margherita.
