Bengaluru, June 30 (NationPress) In a heartbreaking incident on National Highway 75 near the Kunigal bypass in Karnataka's Tumakuru district, four family members tragically lost their lives when their car was struck by a speeding canter truck.
The victims have been identified as residents of Mattikere village in Magadi taluk: Seebe Gowda, his wife Shobha, and their children Dumbishree and Bhanukiran Gowda.
The accident occurred as the family was en route to drop their son off at his school hostel. Seebe Gowda, a Magadi town resident, was taking his son Bhanukiran, a Class 8 student at Valley School near Bidanagere, to Kunigal.
Having returned to Magadi after a holiday on Sunday, the family was traveling together post-dinner to return the boy to the hostel. As they approached the Kunigal bypass, a speeding canter truck, driving against the flow on a one-way road, collided head-on with their vehicle.
The force of the crash was so intense that all four passengers in the car died instantly, and the vehicle was left utterly mangled.
Seebe Gowda had three children: Varnashree, Dumbishree, and Bhanukiran. Varnashree was pursuing her studies at Dayananda Sagar College in Bengaluru, while Dumbishree was enrolled at Global College in Bengaluru.
On Sunday evening, the family had first dropped off their elder daughter, Varnashree, in Bengaluru before heading to the school to drop off Bhanukiran. Seebe was driving the car himself, accompanied by his wife, daughter, and son.
Upon hearing the crash, locals and other travelers rushed to the scene to assist the victims and promptly contacted the police, who arrived quickly. A case has been opened at the Kunigal Police Station, and an investigation is currently underway.
