Bengaluru, Feb 17 (NationPress) France's Defence Minister Catherine Vautrin announced on Tuesday that the launch of the H125 helicopter assembly facility in India represents a pivotal achievement in the strategic alliance between India and France.
Vautrin spoke to the audience at Vemagal, Karnataka, during the opening ceremony of India’s inaugural private-sector helicopter assembly plant.
"This milestone illustrates the potential of our partnership built on trust, ambition, and innovation. Together, we are enhancing capabilities, bolstering sovereignty, and preparing for future challenges. This collective vision highlights France's pride in collaborating with India and our commitment to further strengthen this strategic relationship in the years ahead," remarked Vautrin.
She recalled that during French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to India for Republic Day in January 2020, plans were announced to establish an H125 helicopter manufacturing facility in the country.
"Today, we have realized that commitment," Vautrin pointed out.
Moreover, she highlighted that both nations have progressed with the C295 programme in India.
Vautrin stated, "These accomplishments signify the robustness of the India-France strategic partnership. They illustrate how French technological know-how and India's capabilities can bolster the Make in India initiative in the defence and space sectors."
She further stressed that the assembly line symbolizes mutual trust, shared priorities, and an ambitious, forward-thinking partnership between the two countries.
"This initiative will enhance India’s capabilities and foster long-term prospects for the French industry," Vautrin added.
Initially, the facility will focus on assembling H125 helicopters but is also prepared to accommodate future military variants.
She reiterated France's dedication to fulfilling India's defence needs, stating, "Our nations have a longstanding partnership. Our economies can strengthen industrial collaboration and enhance resilience on both fronts."
Vautrin remarked that as a market leader backed by the French government, Airbus can play a vital role in supporting India.
"The new facility is not only a key industrial milestone; it signifies the dawn of a new era in the relationship between France and India in the defence and space domains," she concluded.
