How Have Garhwa’s Govt Schools Changed Under the PM SHRI Scheme?

Garhwa, (Jharkhand) May 3 (NationPress) In a transformative move aimed at enhancing the educational quality in rural India, 26 government schools in Garhwa district have undergone a remarkable makeover under the PM SHRI (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India) scheme, ushering in a wave of positive transformation in the region's educational sector.

The initiative by the Central Government, initiated under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, identified 24 middle and high schools in Garhwa last year for development into model institutions. A year later, the transformation is clearly evident in both the infrastructure and academic atmosphere of these schools.

At Jata High School, one of the chosen institutions in a rural area of Garhwa, the changes are impressive. Contemporary facilities including smart classrooms, digital boards, science labs, well-stocked libraries, playgrounds, clean drinking water, adequate sanitation, and even solar-powered energy systems have been implemented, bringing the school up to 21st-century educational standards.

However, the influence extends beyond mere infrastructure. Rajesh Kumar Das, Principal of Jata High School, remarked that the initiative has fostered a noticeable transformation in student engagement with learning.

“The PM SHRI status has entirely altered our school's environment. The quality of instruction has improved, and students are now more involved through frequent events and activities,” he stated.

Students are also acknowledging the changes. Riya and Sonali, two pupils from the school, shared their enthusiasm:

“We are thrilled about our PM SHRI school. Everything is now well-organized and we have various activities taking place here.”

District officials have also commended the scheme for its broader implications. Mohammad Kaisar, District Education Officer of Garhwa, described it as a significant achievement for the district.

“This is a commendable initiative by the Central Government. Garhwa has the highest number of PM SHRI schools in the state. The atmosphere in these schools has greatly improved, and students are participating in a diverse range of activities,” he said.

Garhwa stands out as the only district in Jharkhand to receive such a high number of PM SHRI schools, highlighting the region's commitment to educational advancement. The initiative has not only enhanced school amenities but has also fostered a renewed sense of confidence among both students and educators.

As the Khelo India Youth Games and other national educational initiatives continue to showcase regional talent and potential, Garhwa’s PM SHRI schools exemplify how effective government intervention can drive sustainable change at the grassroots level.
