New Delhi, Nov 16 (NationPress) The Indian Air Force (IAF) has dispatched a key contingent to France for the 8th installment of the bilateral air exercise Garuda 25, taking place with the French Air and Space Force (FASF) at Mont-de-Marsan Air Base from November 16 to 27.
The IAF squad arrived in France on November 10, initiating an intensive joint training agenda focused on boosting operational synergy between these two strategic allies.
This year's drill showcases the IAF's Su-30MKI fighter aircraft, which will engage in advanced air combat missions alongside the FASF's versatile Rafale jets.
The operational deployment of the IAF is bolstered by C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft for personnel induction and disembarkation, while IL-78 air-to-air refueling tankers are enhancing the range and endurance of the participating aircraft.
The exercise will include air combat maneuvers, air defense missions, and coordinated strike operations in simulated high-threat scenarios, designed to replicate real-world operational difficulties.
Earlier on Thursday, the Indian Air Force announced on X: “Exercise #Garuda25: An Indian Air Force contingent has arrived at Mont-de-Marsan Air Base, France, to engage in the bilateral air exercise with the French Air and Space Force from 16–27 Nov 25.”
“IAF’s Su-30 MKI and FASF’s Rafale fighters will participate in a simulated combat scenario, demonstrating the capabilities and professionalism of both Air Forces. This exercise will further enhance interoperability, promote the exchange of best practices, and fortify defense collaboration between the two forces,” the post elaborated.
Garuda 25 remains a pivotal element of Indo-French military cooperation, providing both air forces with a platform to refine tactics, improve mission-planning capabilities, and strengthen interoperability in a realistic operational atmosphere.
Simultaneously, another IAF contingent, including the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) and Tejas fighter aircraft, has arrived at Al Maktoum Airbase, Dubai, for the Dubai Airshow 2025, scheduled from November 17 to 21.
This deployment underscores India's expanding defense diplomacy. The event will feature over 1,500 exhibitors, 490 delegations, and more than 200 aircraft, with the IAF performing alongside elite teams such as the Saudi Hawks, Russian Knights, and the UAE’s Al Fursan.
