New Delhi, Dec 10 (NationPress) Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi urged the BJP on Wednesday to extend an apology in Parliament for their political predecessors who were absent during the freedom struggle. Speaking to media outside Parliament, Gogoi remarked, “The essence of Vande Mataram was to instill fear in the British and motivate citizens to undertake their responsibilities towards Mother India by engaging in the freedom movement. While the BJP commemorates it, the spirit of resistance against the British was notably missing in their actions.”
“What could be more unfortunate than this? I anticipate that the BJP will issue an apology in Parliament for their political ancestors who were not part of the freedom struggle,” he continued.
He expressed dissatisfaction after the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha stated on Tuesday, “I am not being permitted to speak.”
“I was both astonished and saddened by the fact that the Leader of Opposition had to officially declare in the House that he was not being allowed to speak. It is evident that the BJP has personal issues with Rahul Gandhi, and possibly even harbors dislike towards him. However, the role of the Leader of the Opposition carries dignity and demands respect. One must attentively listen to whoever holds that position,” Gogoi added.
“If such matters are occurring within the House, one can only wonder what may be transpiring outside with the citizens. Even if viewpoints differ, discussing democracy necessitates granting the LoP the respect he deserves. I question the Speaker as to why the LoP has to continually make this request. If the BJP truly respects the LoP, then they must grant him the right to speak,” Gogoi stated.
In response to the Thiruparankundram Deepam controversy, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi remarked, “Our Congress leaders in Tamil Nadu, who are closely linked with this issue, possess far greater knowledge about it and its entire historical context than I do. They can provide you with comprehensive insights. Without grasping the complete history and sequence of events, any explanation would be inadequate. They can offer you a much clearer and more precise understanding of the situation.”
