Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Ahmedabad, Feb 22 (NationPress) Gautam Adani, the Chairman of the Adani Group, conducted a significant review of the company's power initiatives in eastern India on Sunday. During his trip to Godda in Jharkhand, he evaluated the 1,600 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power facility, which has seen an investment exceeding Rs 16,000 crore.
This project, situated in a predominantly tribal area, has generated thousands of jobs, both directly and indirectly, while enhancing rail connectivity in the locality.
Notably, the power station provides electricity exclusively to Bangladesh under a long-term contract, underscoring its strategic significance.
Additionally, Gautam Adani visited Bihar, where plans are underway for a 2,400 MW ultra-supercritical power project at Pirpainti near Bhagalpur. This initiative is projected to require an investment of over Rs 27,000 crore and aims for completion within four to five years to cater to the increasing energy needs of the state.
Through these ventures, the Adani Group has positioned itself as a leading private investor in infrastructure within Jharkhand and Bihar.
Both states, rich in minerals, have historically attracted limited large-scale industrial investments.
At the Godda facility, Gautam Adani engaged with engineers, technicians, and on-ground staff, acknowledging their hard work.
He also connected with tribal women from nearby communities, emphasizing a people-first approach as the Group expands its reach.
Earlier in the day, he visited the Baba Baidyanath Temple in Deoghar, fulfilling a long-desired personal wish. He expressed the notion that “Seva hi Sadhana Hai”, which translates to service being a form of devotion.
Describing his visit to the temple, Gautam Adani shared on his X handle, “Visiting Baba Baidyanath in Deoghar felt like centuries-old faith is still alive in a vibrant form today.” He added, “The realization of why Mahadev symbolizes strength, restraint, and resolve becomes even more profound upon arriving here.”
In recent years, the Adani Group has been involved in major spiritual and public events, including the Maha Kumbh Mela and the Jagannath Rath Yatra.
