Gehlot Critiques Rajasthan Government for Neglecting Healthcare Model
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, March 23 (NationPress) Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has sharply criticized the administration led by Bhajan Lal Sharma, claiming that Rajasthan's previously acclaimed 'world-class' healthcare system is being deliberately undermined through negligence.
In a post on the social media platform X, Gehlot expressed that the state's once strong healthcare infrastructure, established during the Congress government, is now on the brink of failure.
He voiced his alarm over the decline of essential public health initiatives, which are hindering thousands from accessing necessary treatments.
Gehlot pointed out that outstanding payments related to the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS) have led private hospitals to contemplate halting outpatient (OPD) and pharmacy services again.
This, he warned, could leave government employees and pensioners without crucial healthcare options.
Additionally, he accused the government of allowing the Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi scheme (now known as Ayushman Arogya) to deteriorate, resulting in treatment delays and a lack of essential medications in hospitals statewide.
Addressing a critical issue, Gehlot highlighted a severe blood shortage at major hospitals in Jaipur, including SMS and Janana hospitals, deeming it a health crisis.
He called on the government to remove restrictions on private blood banks to alleviate the situation and save lives.
During a recent visit to a village in the Chaksu Assembly area, Gehlot met with a 108-year-old resident, Goluram Mali, and engaged with locals who expressed dissatisfaction with the current government. According to him, citizens showed frustration over delayed welfare initiatives, especially in healthcare.
Gehlot also criticized Chief Minister Sharma for making personal attacks during public addresses rather than tackling urgent community issues.
“When I address public concerns, the response should be actionable solutions—not mere political banter,” he stated.
Key health initiatives in Rajasthan include the Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya Yojana, Mukhyamantri Nishulk Nirogi (Medicine) Yojana, Mukhyamantri Nishulk Nirogi (Diagnostics) Yojana, and the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS).
Gehlot reiterated that the healthcare framework established during his leadership focused on affordability and accessibility and urged the current government to take immediate actions to prevent further decline.
