Sikar (Rajasthan), July 29 (NationPress) The former Chief Minister of Rajasthan and seasoned Congress figure, Ashok Gehlot, fiercely criticized the BJP-led state administration during a gathering at Neem Ka Thana in Sikar district on Tuesday.
He condemned the government’s move to revoke the district status of Neem Ka Thana and the division status of Sikar, reaffirming the Congress party's pledge to reinstate these administrative changes if they regain power in Rajasthan.
Gehlot highlighted that Sikar was awarded division status during his leadership, responding to persistent requests from State Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra.
Addressing Dotasra and Neem Ka Thana MLA Suresh Modi, Gehlot remarked, "Suresh ji, Dotasra ji kept asking for this, and I’d say — you may tire from your requests, but I will never tire of fulfilling them."
The former Chief Minister assured residents that any administrative decisions made by the current BJP government would be reinstated by the next Congress cabinet, no matter who is in charge.
In a courageous move, Gehlot challenged Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to deliver Yamuna water to Neem Ka Thana, stating, "If you succeed in bringing Yamuna water, I will personally come and offer you a garland."
Taking a subtle jab at the Chief Minister, Gehlot added, "While singing bhajans is enjoyable — we also love visiting temples — ensure that your bhajan includes a promise to bring Yamuna water."
He stressed that governance should focus on building rather than dismantling, declaring, "Learn to create, not to destroy."
He criticized the BJP-led government for reversing numerous administrative improvements and civic enhancements made during the previous Congress administration and assured that all such changes, including the restoration of district, municipality, or other status modifications, would be rectified by the Congress government if returned to power in the state.
