Jaipur, Dec 5 (NationPress) Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma criticized the Congress party during the celebrations of the Ganga Canal Centenary in Sadhuwali, Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan.
In response to remarks from Congress leaders about the Yamuna water agreement, Sharma stated that the Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully and Congress State President Govind Singh Dotasra should not be alarmed. He declared, “Our government will bring Yamuna water to Shekhawati, and we will make sure you receive this water, regardless of your opposition.”
Sharma also targeted former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, indicating that Congress leaders prioritize personal relationships over the welfare of Rajasthan. He remarked, “Gehlot claims Kamal Nath is his close friend. However, when it was time to sign the ERCP agreement, Kamal Nath, the then Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, refused to cooperate and instead took the matter to court.”
He acknowledged the current Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav for his support towards Rajasthan, saying, “Mohan Yadav demonstrated what true leadership and friendship entail. At my request, he promptly finalized the ERCP agreement. Now, the DPR is complete, and the foundation stone has been laid. That is genuine commitment.”
The Chief Minister accused Congress of experiencing internal turmoil and desperation. “There is no unity within Congress. Their conflict is not about public good; it revolves around power. The Leader of the Opposition makes statements out of fear of losing his position,” he added.
Sharma claimed that the state Congress chief is also seeking that very position while noting that Ashok Gehlot is occupied with managing both leaders, initially silencing one and now attempting to control the other. “Gehlot first quieted one leader, and now he’s tightening the grip on the other,” he added.
Sharma concluded by stating that Rajasthan cannot thrive under a party embroiled in infighting and insecurity. “Congress has no affection for Rajasthan, nor for one another. Their politics revolves around power, not the people. Rajasthan deserves better, and this government is committed to delivering it,” he asserted.
