Patna, June 8 (NationPress) Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Sunday launched a fierce criticism against the Grand Alliance, particularly focusing on RJD chief Lalu Prasad and the Congress party amid the ongoing conflict over the Chief Ministerial candidate for the Mahagathbandhan.
While addressing reporters at Patna airport, he remarked, "The Mahagathbandhan is not a coalition; it is a 'thugbandhan'. Its leaders seem more inclined to undermine each other than to serve the citizens of Bihar."
Pointing to the power struggle between the RJD and Congress, he asserted that the alliance is devoid of vision and unity, caught in internal discord over leadership.
Criticizing Lalu, Singh stated: "Lalu Prasad is envisioning his son as the Chief Minister. However, the people of Bihar have already decided. They understand that if this 'crocodile' (Lalu) returns to power, it will usher back an era of lawlessness and corruption, which the state simply cannot afford."
Singh's comments arise amidst reports of the Congress and RJD failing to agree on a CM face for the forthcoming elections.
While some analysts interpret this as a tactical maneuver to keep the NDA uncertain, it has also unveiled fractures within the opposition coalition.
As the Bihar Assembly elections draw near, political rhetoric has intensified, with leaders from both the ruling National Democratic Alliance and the opposition Mahagathbandhan heightening their verbal assaults against one another.
As election strategies accelerate, such confrontations are likely to amplify in the coming days, with each faction striving to dominate the narrative and solidify voter backing.
Giriraj Singh also defended the current double-engine government, highlighting that the progress achieved by the Nitish Kumar-led NDA administration since 2005 is commendable.
"The state has made significant strides on the development front. The road infrastructure, four-lane highways under construction, and improvements to airports have notably advanced under Nitish Kumar's guidance," he stated.
