Bhubaneswar, Aug 6 (NationPress) In a tragic incident of self-immolation, another young female student tragically lost her life after setting herself ablaze in the Pattamundai region of Kendrapara district, allegedly due to blackmailing by her boyfriend.

The young woman was in her final year at a local college.

Her father expressed to the media, “My daughter was involved with a young man. Following their break-up, he began to harass her, which led her to this extreme action. He would send her inappropriate images and even threatened her life.”

The father also mentioned that approximately six to eight months prior, they had sought assistance from the police, who allegedly advised them to block her boyfriend's number.

Initial reports indicate that the victim's family was not at home when she reportedly took her own life by self-immolation.

Upon receiving the news, the district Superintendent of Police, Siddharth Kataria, along with other senior police officials, arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation.

SP Kataria informed the press that the victim's father had reported that she committed suicide, and an investigation is underway to determine the true circumstances surrounding her death.

He also committed to investigating the claims of police negligence made by the victim’s father.

It is noteworthy that just a few days ago, a 16-year-old girl who had been set on fire by three unidentified individuals on a motorcycle in the Balanga area of Puri district on July 19, succumbed to her injuries while being treated at AIIMS, New Delhi. Previously, another female student from Fakir Mohan Autonomous College in Balasore had poured petrol on herself and set herself ablaze due to alleged sexual harassment by a faculty member.

This victim, who suffered over 90 percent burns, later died at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.
