Gurugram, Jan 16 (NationPress) Following the announcement of its operational closure by the US-based short-seller Hindenburg Research, BJP spokesperson Gourav Vallabh expressed strong condemnation of the firm’s actions, asserting that its main goal was to undermine the Indian economy. Vallabh highlighted that the timing of the controversial report aimed at an Indian company, released just before the Parliament session, was a well-coordinated attack on India’s capital markets.
In an interview with IANS, Vallabh stated, "The singular intention of short seller Hindenburg was to disrupt the Indian economy. The manner in which they published a report against a company mere days before the Parliament session was a meticulously planned assault on the Indian capital market. There was a concerted effort to hinder the global growth of India's capital market."
He further noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Indian economy is advancing towards the goal of becoming a developed nation.
"Reports like those from Hindenburg have not impacted the fundamental strengths of the Indian economy. Currently, India boasts the highest GDP growth globally, surpassing nations such as the US, China, Germany, Japan, Canada, and Brazil, as projected by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for 2025," he remarked.
Vallabh maintained that despite the intentions of short-sellers, their efforts had proven to be ineffective.
"Hindenburg's attempts to undermine the Indian economy were entirely fruitless. This is why they have now shut down their research firm. The Indian economy is founded on solid fundamentals, and no external force can prevent India from achieving developed nation status by 2047," Vallabh concluded.
Earlier, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla called for an apology from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who had previously deemed the Hindenburg report credible.
Poonawalla stated to IANS, "It is now evident that Hindenburg was sponsored, orchestrated, and organized to act against the country. Their report lacked any veracity. The Supreme Court has investigated this issue, and the US Department of Justice is also examining it, particularly after investors incurred significant losses."
He further criticized Rahul Gandhi, stating, "Gandhi treated the Hindenburg report as if it were divine revelation. He should apologize for it. He must clarify his connection to Hindenburg. Was it mere coincidence that the report surfaced overnight, leading Congress to hijack Parliament and incite economic chaos against India? They conspired to promote economic terrorism. Now that Hindenburg is ceasing operations, will Gandhi apologize?"
Recently, Hindenburg Research founder Nate Anderson announced the firm’s closure, claiming there was no specific reason—whether related to threats, health issues, or personal matters—for this decision. The firm had gained infamy for targeting corporate leaders globally, including in India, often exacerbating economic turmoil through its contentious reports.
