Chennai, Jan 11 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin, criticized Governor R.N. Ravi on Saturday, claiming that he is unable to acknowledge the advancements made in the state.

During the discussion regarding the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address, Stalin stated, “As the current Chief Minister, I may be an ordinary individual. However, the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly (TNLA) boasts a historic legacy spanning over a century, rooted in the sentiments of millions.”

Stalin escalated his criticism towards the Governor, especially for his refusal to deliver his speech in the State Assembly and his protest against the performance of the national anthem at the end.

The Chief Minister charged the Governor with engaging in politically motivated actions that undermined the dignity of the State Assembly and were inappropriate for someone in his position. “By showing disrespect towards the dignity of the House, the feelings of the citizens, and daring to insult the Tamil Thai Vaazhthu (Tamil state song), the Governor has tarnished his official status with political motives. The House has never witnessed such behavior, and it should not have to experience it again,” Stalin expressed.

He also pointed out that the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly has faced unprecedented incidents in recent times. “The Governor comes to the House and departs without delivering his speech. That is why I described his conduct as childish,” he remarked.

Stalin reiterated, referencing Article 176(1) of the Constitution, that the Governor is obligated to present the speech prepared by the state government. He accused the Governor of intentionally breaching established protocols.

In relation to the incident on the inaugural day of the Assembly session, Stalin noted that Speaker M. Appavu had to recite the Tamil version of the Governor’s address after the Governor exited the House without delivering it.

Stalin recalled that in previous years, the Governor had made alterations to the prepared speech, adding or omitting portions. “This time, he left without delivering it entirely. It is childish behavior,” Stalin stated, questioning the actions of the Governor.

“It is inappropriate for someone holding such a prestigious position to repeatedly insult the people of Tamil Nadu, the government they elected, and the centennial Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly,” Stalin asserted.

He posed a question that he claimed resonated with the public: “Why should an individual unwilling to fulfill their Constitutional duties continue to hold their position?”
