Hoshiarpur, Jan 25 (NationPress) During the inauguration of eco-friendly huts at Saleran Dam aimed at significantly enhancing eco-tourism and job opportunities, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann asserted that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is boosting employment through the development of tourism hotspots.
He noted that activities such as film shoots and destination weddings in Amritsar, Patiala, and Chamrod Lake have contributed to an increase in job prospects, emphasizing that the Saleran Dam initiative will rival the tourism attractions of Himachal Pradesh.
The Chief Minister revealed that the government has restored 52 dilapidated rest houses, now generating a monthly rental income of Rs 1 crore. He criticized previous administrations for selling government assets at minimal prices, asserting that the current government has regained those properties.
Following the inauguration, CM Mann remarked, “Today marks the launch of the Saleran Dam Eco-Tourism Project, aimed at fortifying tourism infrastructure in our state. The earlier successful implementation of the Chohal Dam project paved the way for this new venture, which will serve as another appealing destination for tourists.”
The project, conceived with an investment of Rs 2.80 crore, is projected to yield over Rs 18 lakh in annual revenue.
“This initiative will draw more visitors to the region, provide job opportunities for local youth, and significantly enhance their earnings,” he added.
Highlighting the features of the project, the Chief Minister mentioned, “A dedicated playground covering 16,000 square feet has been constructed for children, featuring a multi-play station and various recreational activities.”
“Additionally, four eco huts have been established for tourists, along with a cafeteria that accommodates 80 people.
CM Mann pointed out that a large amphitheater has been created to admire the stunning views of the Saleran Dam, stating, “This project will play a crucial role in giving a substantial boost to eco-tourism in Punjab.”
“We have developed an environmentally-friendly tourism and recreational infrastructure while ensuring ecological balance,” he remarked, adding that the government is diligently working to promote tourism in the Kandi belt of Punjab.
“These areas have tremendous potential and can be cultivated as prime tourist destinations to attract visitors from all around the world,” concluded the CM.
