New Delhi, May 4 (NationPress) Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, the Chairperson of the National Commission for Backward Classes and former Minister of State for Home Affairs, has unequivocally condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. He emphasized that the government is fully prepared to take decisive action and will not tolerate anyone involved in such heinous acts.
In an interview with IANS, Ahir stated: "It is understandable for citizens to feel anger after such attacks; however, the government is committed to taking strong measures and will persist in doing so. Our nation shares borders with several countries, and terrorists exploit any chance to infiltrate. They are nothing but cowards who target innocent lives. The government possesses the capability to implement robust actions against these incidents."
Reflecting on his time in the Home Ministry, he highlighted the advancements made in fortifying India's borders: "Having served as the Minister of State for Home Affairs, I am aware of the extensive efforts the government has put into border security. Infrastructure, including highways, has been developed in border regions. While the Northeast once faced significant insurgency, it has largely become peaceful. Elections are conducted seamlessly, with citizens actively participating."
He further emphasized the alertness of both the armed forces and the government in dealing with these covert, cowardly attacks. "The government and the military are always on high alert. My experience informs me that the government operates seriously in these matters," he asserted.
When questioned about actions against Pakistan, Ahir responded directly: "Whenever we have retaliated against Pakistan's actions, we have not held back. The government has consistently addressed these issues with strictness and resolve, and we will continue to do so. However, this is not a cricket match where we can just play a good innings; this is a matter between two nations."
He elaborated on the intricacies involved: "This situation involves two countries and is extremely serious. While our population is larger and our borders longer, the government will act judiciously and will not let them escape justice."
Assuring the nation of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government's determination, Ahir declared: "Under PM Modi's leadership, the government will not tolerate such acts from Pakistan. The terrorists and their associates in Pakistan have committed an unforgivable crime; the government is not inclined to forgive them, and we will respond at the right moment."
He also cautioned political opponents about their choice of words: "Those who speak publicly should be mindful that they must refrain from making statements regarding national security. This is about the safety of our nation."
In conclusion, he reaffirmed the government's capability and commitment: "The government's intentions are clear; it is capable, and we respond with strength. Not only against Pakistan, but also against China, we have given them a proper response. We need to have faith in our government. The opposition must realize that their statements should not undermine the country."
