New Delhi, July 16 (NationPress) As the Monsoon Session of Parliament approaches with expected challenges, the Congress party is poised to confront the Centre regarding security lapses in Pahalgam and the recent suspension of 'Operation Sindoor'. BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal asserted on Wednesday that the government is willing to engage in discussions.
In an interview with IANS, Khandelwal remarked, “Parliament sessions should be platforms for significant discussions. Unfortunately, our previous experiences have not been favorable, as the Opposition frequently disrupts proceedings over trivial issues, hindering progress.
“Nevertheless, if a matter is sanctioned by the Speaker, the government stands ready to converse. The Opposition must adopt a constructive approach to ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament.”
The Congress party is set to scrutinize the government regarding recent incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, especially the terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has associated this attack with efforts to destabilize the region’s tourism and incite religious conflict.
Additionally, Khandelwal commented on ‘Operation Kalnemi’ taking place in Uttarakhand, where over 300 fraudulent godmen have been identified.
“Operation Kalnemi was urgently needed,” Khandelwal stated.
“Certain individuals, masquerading as sants, are damaging the reputation of Sanatan Dharma. Their actions undermine authentic spiritual traditions. This crackdown should extend across all states.”
On the investigation into Jalaluddin, also known as Changur Baba, a significant suspect in a nationwide illegal religious conversion scheme, Khandelwal emphasized, “Religious conversion through deceit or coercion is a perilous issue. We cannot accept it. Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have been clear — those accountable will be apprehended and prosecuted.”
Reflecting on EAM Jaishankar’s address at the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers, where he took a strong position against terrorism, Khandelwal endorsed the minister’s remarks, stating, “Jaishankar’s statements encapsulate India’s resolute stance. Those who support or propagate terrorism, whether domestically or abroad, will face repercussions. India will never ally with forces that jeopardize its peace and unity.”
