New Delhi, Nov 27 (NationPress) The Secretary of the Department of Financial Services, M. Nagaraju, announced on Thursday that the government has successfully returned over Rs 1,887 crore in unclaimed financial assets, including insurance policy claims and bank deposits, to their rightful owners as part of the newly initiated 'Your Money, Your Right' campaign.
During a significant camp in the capital, alongside Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, Secretary Nagaraju highlighted the campaign's achievements in Delhi, noting that as of August 31, the pending balance under the Deposited Education and Awareness fund for the region stands at Rs 3,210.84 crore.
This figure suggests that a substantial amount remains inaccessible to the residents of the National Capital, emphasizing the necessity for increased outreach in Delhi to ensure families can claim their rightful funds.
Unclaimed financial assets, which include insurance claims, bank deposits, dividends, shares, and mutual fund income, frequently go unclaimed due to lack of awareness or outdated account information. The mega camp aimed to assist citizens in understanding the process of reclaiming their assets.
Nagaraju stated, "From the outset, we intended for every citizen to easily comprehend this process. The campaign's launch video is now being disseminated across the country in various local languages. Additionally, comprehensive booklets containing FAQs and standard procedures for all unclaimed financial assets have been translated into several regional languages and are being widely distributed. These resources are empowering families to navigate the claim process with confidence.
He reported that the nationwide response has been positive, with strong participation observed across all four phases of the campaign.
Mega camps have been organized in 272 districts, with an additional 102 camps scheduled for tomorrow. With the current momentum, all districts in the country will eventually be included in this initiative.
Senior government officials, MPs, MLAs, and local representatives are actively involved in these camps, encouraging citizens to participate.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta declared that the government is committed to digitally restoring citizens' unclaimed assets through the 'Your Money, Your Right' initiative, showcasing the government's focus on effective service delivery. The Delhi Government will support this campaign and empower the Finance Ministry to facilitate the organization of these camps.
Rekha Gupta urged the citizens of Delhi to verify their bank accounts, fixed deposits, policies, shares, or mutual fund investments and to attend these camps to reclaim their funds.
In his remarks, Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary emphasized that the 'Your Money, Your Right' campaign is making steady progress and aims to reach every district within three months, from October to December, ensuring no citizen is deprived of their accumulated assets.
