Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 23 (NationPress) The government has allocated over Rs 20 lakh crore towards more than 1,700 ongoing infrastructure projects nationwide, according to information presented in Parliament on Monday.
In a written response to the Lok Sabha, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Rao Inderjit Singh, stated that there are currently 1,702 central sector projects in progress, each with a budget of Rs 150 crore or more.
The minister went on to explain that these projects have a total original cost amounting to Rs 33.71 lakh crore, of which Rs 20.01 lakh crore has been expended thus far.
The ministry oversees these projects via its online platform PAIMANA (Project Assessment Infrastructure Monitoring and Analytics for Nation-Building), which monitors advancements across 17 Central ministries and departments.
Singh noted that to enhance operational efficiency, this platform has been integrated with the Integrated Project Monitoring Portal (IPMP) of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), allowing for automatic data exchange through APIs.
"PAIMANA has minimized manual data entry, with approximately 64 percent of projects in sectors such as roads, petroleum, and coal being updated automatically," he stated. He further mentioned that ongoing monitoring and data analytics facilitate the identification of delays, enabling prompt interventions by ministries. Customized dashboards have been developed for departments to allow real-time project execution tracking.
Moreover, substantial infrastructure projects are periodically evaluated through the PRAGATI platform, led by the Prime Minister, to tackle obstacles and accelerate implementation.
The Project Monitoring Group (PMG) within the DPIIT is also instrumental in expediting approvals and addressing challenges for projects with investments exceeding Rs 500 crore through inter-ministerial collaboration.
The PAIMANA platform was officially launched on September 25, 2025, succeeding the previous OCMS-2006 (Online Computerised Monitoring System). It adheres to the principle of "One Data One Entry".
As of December 2025, the platform tracked the status of 1,392 projects throughout the country, implemented by 17 central ministries or departments, with a total original cost of Rs 29.68 lakh crore and a cumulative expenditure of Rs 19.01 lakh crore.
