Grassroots Initiatives Essential for Sustainable Reforms: Union Minister

New Delhi, Dec 25 (NationPress) Governance reforms must initiate at the grassroots level to foster enduring and significant change, declared Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh, on Wednesday while unveiling the ‘Viksit Panchayat Karmayogi’ initiative.
Introduced on Good Governance Day, which honors the 100th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, this initiative is part of the larger ‘Prashasan Gaon Ki Aur’ campaign. Its goal is to bolster the capacity and effectiveness of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) by providing elected representatives and officials with essential tools and knowledge for effective governance and participatory planning.
Dr Singh reiterated that governance reforms must commence at the grassroots level to achieve lasting and significant changes and to address existing capacity gaps.
Being piloted in Odisha, Assam, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh, the initiative utilizes e-learning platforms, AI-driven chatbots, and mobile applications to narrow knowledge gaps and improve service delivery, according to the minister.
The program is in line with the government’s larger vision to decentralize governance and promote participatory decision-making at the grassroots.
“This initiative aims to develop scalable models of citizen-centric governance, enabling PRIs to facilitate equitable and sustainable development throughout rural India,” the minister stated.
Additionally, Dr Singh introduced several other transformative initiatives focused on improving efficiency, transparency, and citizen-centric governance.
These initiatives, which leverage technology and encourage collaboration, highlight the government’s dedication to a more inclusive and accountable administration.
A new dashboard on the ‘iGOT Karmayogi’ platform was also launched, marking the introduction of the 1600th e-learning course.
This enhanced dashboard is designed to empower ministries, departments, and state administrators with advanced tools for monitoring user registrations, course completions, and overall capacity-building progress.
With customizable views and robust data filtration features, the dashboard offers detailed insights to enhance decision-making and optimize training initiatives.
Additional initiatives included the ‘Single Simplified Pension Application Form’ and the ‘Compendium of Pension Related Instructions, 2024’, a comprehensive document consolidating updated rules, procedures, and guidelines related to pensions.
