New Delhi, Nov 7 (NationPress) Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal expressed his gratitude after a highly fruitful visit to a kiwifruit orchard in New Zealand. He acknowledged the warm reception from the Kiwi-Indian farmers.
During his visit to New Zealand this week, Goyal aimed to establish a future-ready and balanced trade agreement that aligns with India's interests while enhancing economic relations, creating new collaboration opportunities, and unlocking potential for businesses and consumers on both sides.
“A very fruitful visit to the Te Puke kiwifruit orchard in the Bay of Plenty, alongside my counterpart, Todd McClay, New Zealand's Minister of Agriculture, Trade, and Investment,” the minister shared on X.
“I am thankful to the Kiwi-Indian farmers and growers for their warm hospitality and enlightening tour. We engaged in a productive discussion regarding the orchard's variety, quality, cultivation practices, and sustainability initiatives. I also gained valuable insights into improving productivity and quality,” Goyal added.
Earlier, he interacted with the vibrant Indian community in Rotorua, New Zealand, with McClay.
“Their warmth, pride, and lasting connection to India are genuinely uplifting. I encouraged them to further contribute to India's Viksit Bharat journey with their expertise and experience,” Goyal remarked.
Goyal reviewed the ongoing India–New Zealand FTA negotiations with McClay and the chief negotiators from both nations. He also participated in the India-New Zealand CEOs Roundtable with McClay in Rotorua, located on the North Island of New Zealand.
The minister emphasized India’s evolving economic landscape and detailed how increased collaboration in sectors like technology, agriculture, education, clean energy, and sustainability could pave the way for new growth opportunities.
Upon his arrival in Rotorua, Goyal received a traditional Maori welcome. He was gifted an idol of the sacred Kamdhenu cow, regarded as auspicious for fostering prosperity in Indian culture, symbolizing the deepening people-to-people ties between the two nations.
