Gandhinagar, July 3 (NationPress) A significant Abhivadan Samaroh (felicitation ceremony) for the newly elected village leaders is set to take place on July 4 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar. During this event, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will allocate over Rs 35 crore in grants to 761 Samras Gram Panchayats throughout Gujarat.
The gathering will include 4,876 newly elected sarpanches, alongside 600 representatives from 56 all-women Samras Panchayats, showcasing a positive trend in inclusive grassroots governance.
Samras Gram Panchayats in Gujarat represent village councils where the sarpanch and members are elected unopposed, fostering leadership based on consensus and minimizing electoral disputes.
The Gujarat government is actively promoting the establishment of Samras Panchayats by providing financial incentives and grants to these villages. At the ceremony, the Chief Minister will also present certificates to top-performing panchayats recognized under the Panchayat Advancement Index.
These awards are based on nine essential themes, including cleanliness, good governance, water sufficiency, child-friendly practices, and women's empowerment.
