Vibrant Gujarat 2027: State to woo investors across 22 nations, 8 cities
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Gujarat is set to launch its most expansive pre-summit investment outreach ahead of the 11th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, reaching out to investors across 22 countries and eight Indian cities through October and November 2026. The summit itself, themed 'Viksit Gujarat – Shaping Global Future', is scheduled at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar from 10 to 12 January 2027, and the state government is pulling out all stops to maximise participation and investment commitments.
Countries and Cities in the Crosshairs
The international outreach will span Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Russia, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kenya, Tanzania, and Mozambique. On the domestic front, roadshows are planned in Guwahati, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, and Jaipur.
The Industrial Extension Bureau (iNDEXTb), Gujarat's nodal investment promotion agency, is coordinating the entire outreach effort. Delegations will conduct sector-specific roundtables and one-on-one meetings with multinational corporations, institutional investors, government bodies, chambers of commerce, trade associations, and innovation organisations.
Key Sectors and Investment Pitch
The state government's pitch will centre on high-growth sectors including semiconductors, artificial intelligence, financial technology, green energy, data centres, and space technologies. The aim is to attract suppliers, technology partners, and skilled professionals to build industrial ecosystems around existing anchor investments.
Gujarat will also highlight infrastructure advantages: its port network and strategic coastline, industrial parks, the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, the Dholera Special Investment Region, and GIFT City — home to India's first International Financial Services Centre. According to the state government, more than 1,000 entities operate within GIFT City, employing over 20,000 people, with 38 banks holding a combined asset base of USD 100 billion.
The outreach will also leverage India's expanding free trade agreement network — covering the UAE, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) nations, and the European Union — as a competitive advantage for investors looking to use Gujarat as an export base.
Semiconductor and Renewable Energy Milestones
Semiconductors occupy a prominent place in the pitch. The state government cited Micron Technology's assembly and test facility in Gujarat, whose inauguration is planned for February 2026, and Kaynes Semicon's outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) unit, inaugurated in March 2026. The CG Power-Renesas OSAT project is also under way. At Dholera, Tata Electronics is constructing a commercial semiconductor fabrication facility in partnership with Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation, with Dutch firm ASML as an equipment and technology partner.
On renewable energy, the government spotlighted the Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Kutch — a planned 37-GW solar-wind hybrid project spread across more than 72,000 hectares, expected to power nearly 18 million homes when completed. According to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Gujarat's installed renewable energy capacity stands at 52.61 GW, representing approximately 18% of India's total installed renewable energy capacity.
What the Government Said
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, who earlier this year led a delegation to the United States and Canada — holding meetings in San Francisco, Washington D.C., and Toronto — said at a curtain-raiser event in New Delhi on 30 August that the Vibrant Gujarat initiative, launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had developed into "a platform for investor confidence and knowledge-sharing." He added that the 2027 edition would support the Prime Minister's 'Sapta-Dhara' vision by bringing science, technology, and enterprise together to strengthen livelihoods, food and energy security, and opportunities for young people.
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi said Gujarat had emerged as "a preferred investment destination across sectors ranging from semiconductors to ports," attributing this to 25 years of investor confidence and asserting that investments in the state were secure and capable of generating appropriate returns.
Summit's Scale and What's Next
The Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit was first held in 2003, when Prime Minister Modi was the state's chief minister. From an inaugural edition attended by roughly 100 participants, it has grown into a major international investment forum. The 10th edition, held in January 2024, drew more than 61,000 delegates from over 140 countries and counted more than 30 partner countries. The state government aims to surpass that scale at the 2027 summit, with the ongoing global roadshow serving as a direct pipeline for commitments ahead of the January dates.
