During a press briefing on Saturday, State Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi revealed that a high-level meeting took place at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Gandhinagar.
"The meeting was convened at the FSL with senior officials to highlight the relentless efforts of Gujarat’s forensic scientists. They have been working tirelessly for the past two nights to expedite DNA matching for the grieving families," he stated.
He mentioned that the Central Government has also stepped in, deploying a significant number of forensic specialists to aid the ongoing efforts.
"Currently, 36 forensic experts from the Gujarat Government are actively participating in the identification process. Moreover, a considerable contingent of experts has been dispatched by the Centre to provide assistance," Sanghavi noted.
The forensic teams are collaborating closely with police and hospital authorities to match DNA samples with those submitted by families of missing or deceased passengers, as well as individuals on the ground.
Officials emphasize that this process is vital for ensuring a dignified and accurate handover of bodies to their respective families.
