Ahmedabad, May 12 (NationPress) Gujarat Police have initiated legal action against 14 individuals for their posts on social media during Operation Sindoor, a crucial mission undertaken by the Indian Armed Forces in light of increasing tensions with Pakistan.
The registered FIRs span multiple districts: two in Kheda and Bhuj, and one each in Jamnagar, Junagadh, Vapi, Banaskantha, Anand, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Patan, and Godhra.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that prompt and stringent measures have been taken in each situation. An official announcement revealed that this action aligns with directives from Minister of State for Home Affairs, Harsh Sanghavi, who emphasized the need to counteract content that threatens national morale.
Following these instructions, Gujarat DGP Vikas Sahay assessed the flagged posts and directed police to file cases and pursue strict legal action without delay.
The operation was executed after extensive evaluations by the Intelligence Branch and the Social Media Monitoring Unit of the Gujarat Police.
Authorities discovered that the individuals had disseminated posts deemed anti-national and potentially damaging to public sentiment during a critical national security operation.
Operation Sindoor, initiated by the Indian Armed Forces amidst escalating tensions with Pakistan, has significantly influenced both public sentiment and administrative responses in Gujarat.
As a strategically important border state, Gujarat has experienced intensified security protocols, increased surveillance, and proactive governance during this operation. Meanwhile, the Union government has lifted Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) for 32 airports across northern and northwestern India, facilitating the resumption of civilian flights. Among these, eight airports in Gujarat that had been temporarily closed for civil aviation until May 15 are included.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI), in an official notice released on Monday morning, stated: “Attention Flyers: Reference notice issued for the temporary closure of 32 airports for civil aircraft operations until 05:29 hrs on May 15, 2025. It is informed that these airports are now available for civil aircraft operations with immediate effect.”
In Gujarat, the affected airports encompassed Bhuj, Jamnagar, Kandla, Keshod, Mundra (Adani), Naliya (Air Force Station), Porbandar, and Rajkot (Hirasar). With the retraction of NOTAMs, flight operations at these locations are anticipated to resume in phases, and schedules are likely to normalize shortly.
