Ahmedabad, May 12 (NationPress) The Gujarat Police have initiated legal proceedings against 14 individuals for their social media activities during Operation Sindoor, a campaign launched by the Indian Armed Forces in response to rising tensions with Pakistan.
The FIRs have been filed in several districts: two each in Kheda and Bhuj, and one each in Jamnagar, Junagadh, Vapi, Banaskantha, Anand, Ahmedabad, Surat city, Vadodara, Patan, and Godhra.
Authorities confirmed that immediate and stringent measures have been taken in each instance. An official statement noted that this action comes after directives from Minister of State for Home Affairs, Harsh Sanghavi, who called for decisive measures against those disseminating content that could jeopardize national morale.
In compliance with his instructions, Gujarat DGP Vikas Sahay assessed the reported posts and directed law enforcement to file cases and pursue legal action without hesitation.
The crackdown followed a comprehensive analysis conducted by the Intelligence Branch and the Social Media Monitoring Unit of the Gujarat Police.
Authorities discovered that the individuals had posted content deemed anti-national and potentially detrimental to public sentiment during a critical national security operation.
Operation Sindoor, initiated by the Indian Armed Forces amidst escalating tensions with Pakistan, has significantly influenced Gujarat in terms of public sentiment and administrative actions.
As a strategically important border state, Gujarat has experienced enhanced security protocols, increased surveillance, and proactive governance throughout the operation. Concurrently, the Union government has lifted the Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) for 32 airports across northern and north-western India, enabling the resumption of civilian flight operations. Among these are eight airports in Gujarat that had been temporarily closed for civil aviation until May 15.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) issued an official notification early Monday stating: “Attention Flyers: The notice regarding the temporary closure of 32 airports for civil aircraft operations until 05:29 hrs on May 15, 2025, has been revoked. These airports are now open for civil aircraft operations effective immediately.”
In Gujarat, the affected airports included Bhuj, Jamnagar, Kandla, Keshod, Mundra (Adani), Naliya (Air Force Station), Porbandar, and Rajkot (Hirasar). With the NOTAMs lifted, flight operations at these locations are anticipated to resume gradually, with schedules expected to return to normal soon.
