Surendranagar, March 3 (NationPress) Over 18 individuals implicated in cow slaughter have received sentences between seven years and life imprisonment over the past year, as stated by Gujarat's Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Tuesday, reaffirming the state's unwavering zero tolerance policy.
While partaking in the Holi festivities at Shree Vadwala Mandir in Dudhrej Dham, located in Surendranagar district, Sanghavi remarked, “On the very second day of taking office as a minister, I sought the blessings of Lord Vadwala and pledged to safeguard Gau Mata (mother cow) and its devotees.”
He further emphasized, “The state administration is highly determined in combating those associated with cow slaughter. Thanks to the government's steadfast commitment and decisive measures, over 18 offenders of cow slaughter have faced sentences ranging from seven years to life imprisonment in the last year.”
In addressing the actions taken within the state, he mentioned that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a stringent law against cow slaughter has been enacted, acknowledging the sentiments of cow devotees.
During the gathering, the Deputy Chief Minister also revealed plans for increased financial aid aimed at enhancing the development of Dudhrej Dham.
He noted that under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel's direction, the state government intends to undertake development projects worth a total of Rs 6.50 crore at the pilgrimage site.
“In addition to the previously sanctioned Rs 4.5 crore, an extra Rs two crore has been earmarked for Dudhrej Dham's development,” he mentioned, adding that these initiatives would bolster facilities at the yatra dham.
Sanghavi participated in the Holi celebration held at the temple, offering prayers.
He received blessings from Shri Kaniram Bapu, who was honored as Mahamandaleshwar at the Haridwar Kumbh Mela and recently awarded the title of Shankaracharya, along with blessings from Laghu Mahant Shri Naagardas Bapu.
Addressing the Maldhari community and other devotees present, he urged, “Let us unite to further reinforce Sanatan values and fulfill our moral duty towards cow protection with commitment.”
Attendees included Deputy Chief Whip Jagdish Makwana, MP Babu Desai, MLA P.K. Parmar, District Collector K.S. Yagnik, along with numerous saints and devotees.
