Gandhinagar, Dec 24 (NationPress) The government of Gujarat has initiated a comprehensive statewide Type-1 Diabetes (Juvenile Diabetes) Treatment and Control Programme aimed at ensuring that every child afflicted with this condition has access to necessary treatment facilities.

Inaugurating the programme from Gandhinagar, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel emphasized the state's commitment to creating a robust and inclusive treatment framework so that children suffering from Type-1 Diabetes can receive continuous care, including in isolated rural regions.

He announced that treatment services will be accessible at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs), guaranteeing comprehensive coverage for affected children throughout the state.

The Chief Minister remarked that this initiative showcases the government's health-centric strategy, focusing on early diagnosis, prompt treatment, and alleviating the financial strain on families.

As part of the programme, children diagnosed with Type-1 Diabetes will be provided with free insulin injections, glucometers, and other vital treatment supplies.

During the launch event, treatment kits were distributed to children.

Referencing the broader national health vision, CM Patel indicated that the state government is aligning its efforts with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guidance, which prioritizes precaution, prevention, and the adoption of a healthy lifestyle as fundamental elements of healthcare.

He highlighted that initiatives like Ayushman Bharat have fortified health security for economically disadvantaged groups, while promoting yoga as a preventive measure for sustaining long-term health.

Focusing on child healthcare initiatives, the Chief Minister stated that the state has emphasized all three dimensions - precaution, prevention, and a positive lifestyle.

Through the School Health Programme, annual health assessments are conducted for over one crore children across Gujarat. Those identified with severe health issues during these evaluations are referred to government hospitals, where advanced treatments, such as kidney and heart care, cancer treatment, and liver transplants, are provided at no cost.

Over the last eleven years, more than 2.18 lakh children have benefited from these specialized treatments, he noted.

The Chief Minister also expressed alarm over the increasing cases of diabetes among adults and youths, attributing this trend to changing lifestyles and stress levels.

He stated that lifestyle changes, such as regular exercise and reduced oil intake, can significantly aid in prevention.

He encouraged citizens to embrace healthier habits and contribute to nurturing a healthy and prosperous Gujarat in alignment with the vision of Viksit@2047.

The launch event was attended by Gandhinagar Mayor Miraben Patel, MLAs Ritaben Patel, and other local representatives, along with senior health department officials, medical professionals, children receiving treatment, and their families.
