Gupta: Kejriwal Evading Public Scrutiny on Corruption Issues

New Delhi, Dec 3 (NationPress) Vijender Gupta, the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, has recently criticized AAP leader and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for dodging questions from the public concerning the misallocation of public funds, the poor air quality, and the polluted Yamuna.
In a post shared on X, he remarked, “After a decade of ineffective governance by Arvind Kejriwal, the current state of Delhi is alarming. The city has become akin to a gas chamber, and we are now under the constraints of GRAP-4. Who is accountable for this?”
Gupta further asserted that Kejriwal has neglected the pressing issues faced by the residents of Delhi as he focuses on his political aspirations.
He accused Kejriwal of consistently blaming the Central government for the myriad problems in Delhi, stating, “For ten years, the AAP government has made empty promises regarding the cleaning of the Yamuna but has yet to make any real progress.”
Gupta pointed out that Kejriwal appears to become anxious when discussions arise about the lavish residence he has constructed using millions of taxpayer rupees. He emphasized that Kejriwal must confront the challenging questions about corruption being raised by the citizens of Delhi.
Earlier, Gupta also condemned the AAP government’s choice to delay the Delhi Assembly sessions originally set for December 2 and 3, calling it a tactic to evade presenting the CAG reports in the Assembly.
He claimed that these reports, which evaluate the financial status of the government, could unveil the wrongdoings of both Kejriwal and Chief Minister Atishi.
“Why is the Delhi government reluctant to present the CAG report? What are they trying to conceal? Why won’t they account for public tax revenue? These reports have been pending for seven years. The AAP administration is merely deceiving and misinforming the public through corruption,” Gupta stated.
He mentioned that the Delhi Assembly session was scheduled for November 29 and December 2 and 3 but was postponed after November 29.
“The Delhi government is not interested in discussing matters of public concern, including pollution, and has denied the Opposition the opportunity to raise questions under Rule 280,” he added.
The Leader of Opposition contended that the Delhi government convened the Assembly without any proper preparation; there was neither a Revised Budget Estimate prepared, nor any intention to address the public's issues, as the discussions were dominated by irrelevant topics.
He alleged that not a single question hour was held throughout the entire year.
