Gurugram, Feb 28 (NationPress) With merely two days remaining until the elections for the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) and Manesar Municipal Corporation (MMC), the district is buzzing with activity.

Comprehensive security measures have been implemented for the voting process. Vikas Arora, Commissioner of Gurugram Police, stated that 4,500 security personnel will be deployed at 1,109 polling booths, with a concentration on those identified as critical or in sensitive areas.

Home guards, Special Security Forces, and additional personnel will support the Gurugram Police, with night patrols ongoing to ensure a peaceful election atmosphere.

In Gurugram, candidates from both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress are contesting the municipal elections, while the BJP is the sole participant in the 20 wards of Manesar.

This marks the inaugural election for the Mayor's position. Additionally, alcohol sales in Gurugram have been prohibited for three days, starting today as 'Dry days.'

The ban will commence at 5:30 PM, coinciding with the end of the civic polls campaign, and will last until the voting day.

Following this, another ban will be enforced on March 12 during the counting of votes, which will occur on March 12 while voting is scheduled for March 2.

Arora emphasized that critical polling booths and stations have been identified across the district, with a plan in place to address any potential law-and-order issues.

Crime units will be active during voting, and the crime branch in-charge will patrol alongside their teams, ready to respond promptly to any violations of law and order.

Additionally, plainclothes officers will monitor illegal activities during the elections, focusing on tracking illicit cash movements, liquor distribution, or any other items suspected to influence voters.

Since the enforcement of the election code of conduct from February 4 to February 25, illegal liquor valued at over Rs 12 lakh, narcotics exceeding Rs 5 lakh, and illegal weapons worth Rs 83,000 have been seized from various locations.
