Chandigarh, Jan 25 (NationPress) In celebration of his birthday, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini took a notable initiative to advance his commitment to cow welfare on Sunday.
During an event at Mata Mansa Devi Gaudham, located nearby, he presented cheques totaling Rs 1.22 crore as a fodder grant to 14 gaushalas in the Panchkula district.
The Chief Minister further announced a contribution of Rs 20 lakh for the enhancement and repair of the unpaved road that leads to the historic Shiva temple on Saketari hill.
Earlier, CM Saini, along with his wife Suman Saini, engaged in the act of feeding cows with fodder and jaggery at the Mata Mansa Devi Gaudham, seeking divine blessings.
He also performed gau pujan (cow worship) during the occasion. In his address to the audience, he emphasized that in India, cows have been venerated since ancient times and hold the esteemed status of a mother.
According to mythological traditions, all deities reside within the cow. Recognizing this profound significance, various religious and social organizations have long advocated for the establishment of gaushalas.
He noted that the government has implemented numerous critical measures for the advancement of gaushalas, cow protection, and the promotion of organic farming.
In the past 11 years, registered gaushalas have received Rs 270 crore for fodder. The Chief Minister highlighted that in 2014-15, the budget for the Haryana Gau Seva Ayog was merely Rs 2 crore.
Upon taking charge of public service, the government began increasing funding, and for the current financial year, the budget has been raised to Rs 595 crore.
He mentioned that prior to 2014, there were only 215 registered gaushalas in Haryana, caring for about 1.75 lakh cows. Currently, the state boasts 686 registered cow shelters, providing care for approximately four lakh cows. Additionally, solar power systems have been installed in 330 gaushalas, with plans to complete installations in the remaining shelters soon.
