Chandigarh, Jan 3 (NationPress) The Haryana Police announced on Saturday that a total of 3,738 cases were logged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, resulting in the apprehension of 6,801 traffickers and the confiscation of 55 kg of heroin and 220 kg of charas throughout 2025.

Both the Haryana Police and the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (HSNCB) initiated a comprehensive anti-drug initiative that extended beyond ordinary seizures and arrests, focusing on dismantling the illegal assets, financial networks, organized crime groups, and supply chains associated with drug traffickers.

In alignment with government strategy, actions such as enforcement, financial investigations, legal measures, technical surveillance, and community involvement were enhanced concurrently to combat both the demand and supply of drugs.

Director General of Police Ajay Singhal commended the efforts of the Haryana Police, HSNCB, district police units, field teams, intelligence divisions, prosecution squads, and all personnel engaged in the drug-free initiative.

An official statement from the DGP noted that this accomplishment is attributed to collective commitment, professional skill, and seamless collaboration.

Encouraging the force for future endeavors, the DGP stressed that the battle against drug trafficking must persist in a consistent, strategic, and increasingly impactful manner.

Reiterating a zero-tolerance policy, he affirmed that the police would not only seek justice for traffickers but would also stay fully committed to establishing a drug-free society.

In their efforts addressing pharmaceutical drug abuse, authorities seized over 5.30 lakh tablets, 4,493 bottles, 1.16 lakh capsules, and 7,644 injections, showcasing robust control over both traditional and synthetic drug trafficking.

As part of actions against unlawful constructions and assets, 119 illegal properties belonging to 107 traffickers were dismantled between 2022 and 2025.

In the previous year, assets worth Rs 13.59 crore, both movable and immovable, belonging to 143 accused were either seized or frozen.

Moreover, 76 habitual offenders were detained under the PIT-NDPS Act, significantly impacting organized drug networks.

The HSNCB recorded 249 cases and apprehended 472 drug traffickers in 2025, addressing cases of commercial, intermediate, and small quantities.

Noteworthy seizures of heroin, charas, ganja, opium, poppy husk, MDMA, and pharmaceutical drugs were executed, disrupting several inter-state and organized trafficking syndicates.

With improved investigation methods and effective use of technical and financial evidence, conviction rates reached 55.90% for commercial quantity cases, 61.83% for intermediate quantity cases, and 31.01% for small quantity cases, reflecting a sound and evidence-based approach to NDPS prosecutions.
