Bhopal, April 29 (NationPress) A masked attacker executed a shocking act of violence against Head Constable Prince Garg on the grounds of the Jaitwara police station in Satna district. Armed with what appears to be a makeshift weapon, the assailant fired a single shot that hit Garg in the shoulder before vanishing into the night.
“The incident transpired around 12:30 a.m. on Monday,” stated Deputy Superintendent of Police Virendra Singh to IANS on Tuesday, expressing his disbelief at the audacity of the attack, labeling it as an uncommon occurrence.
This event has raised alarm among authorities, prompting a search for clues, especially since there have been multiple assaults on police personnel recently, including a notable incident in Mauganj where villagers attacked a police team.
According to the officer, Garg, who lives in the barracks at the police station, had just returned from his shift and was resting when he heard a commotion outside. Upon stepping out to look, he encountered the masked assailant, who immediately opened fire.
The sound of the gunshot alerted police personnel who rushed to the location, discovering Garg injured yet conscious.
He was promptly transported to the district hospital for a CT scan before being moved to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa as a precautionary measure. His condition is reportedly stable, according to the police officer.
The suspect has been identified through CCTV footage, and police teams have been deployed to capture him.
Several individuals have been taken into custody for questioning.
Garg has identified the shooter as Adarsh Sharma, also known as Pachchu, a local from Mehuti with a criminal background.
“He is implicated in two serious crimes across separate police stations,” added the DSP.
When questioned about the motivation for the attack, Singh stated it remains unclear, but a comprehensive investigation will clarify the situation.
