New Delhi, Sep 30 (NationPress) More than 11.31 lakh health camps (screening and specialty camps) have been conducted under the 'Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan', which was recently initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as stated by the Union government on Tuesday.
The camps screened over 6.51 crore citizens across the nation for non-communicable diseases, including hypertension (1.44 crore citizens) and diabetes (1.41 crore).
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 'Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan' represents the most extensive health outreach for women and children in India.
Over 31 lakh women were screened for breast cancer, and more than 16 lakh for cervical cancer, while nearly 58 lakh people received oral cancer screenings.
Additionally, over 54.43 lakh antenatal check-ups have been performed, and almost 1.28 crore children have received life-saving vaccines, according to the Ministry.
The health camps also focused on anaemia and nutrition, with more than 93 lakh individuals screened for anaemia, alongside nutrition counseling sessions reaching numerous families.
Furthermore, over 71 lakh citizens were screened for tuberculosis and 7.9 lakh for Sickle Cell Disease. The camps also recorded over 3.44 lakh blood donors and issued more than 13 lakh new Ayushman/PM-JAY cards.
The health camps featured thousands of specialty clinics, providing advanced screening, diagnostics, counseling, and treatment services to beneficiaries, thereby supporting the efforts of state governments and community health workers.
Central government institutions, medical colleges, and private organizations have collectively organized 20,269 screening and specialty health camps, benefiting over 29 lakh citizens.
This initiative commenced on September 17 and will continue until October 2 at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres (CHCs), District Hospitals, and other government health facilities nationwide, aiming to deliver women-focused preventive, promotive, and curative health services at the community level.
