New Delhi, Sep 23 (NationPress) Over 76 lakh women and children have actively engaged in the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, as reported by the government.
This initiative, launched on September 17, has seen remarkable participation throughout India, benefiting countless women, children, and families through extensive health services.
As of September 20, more than 2.83 lakh health camps (including screening and specialty camps) have taken place under this initiative, attracting over 76 lakh citizens across the nation, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
At these health camps, over 37 lakh individuals have been screened for hypertension, 35 lakh for diabetes, more than 9 lakh women for breast cancer, and over 4.7 lakh for cervical cancer. Screening for oral cancer has included more than 16 lakh participants.
Furthermore, over 18 lakh antenatal check-ups have been executed, and more than 51 lakh children have received essential vaccines.
Over 15 lakh individuals have been screened for anaemia, with nutrition counselling reaching numerous families.
The health camps also included screenings for tuberculosis (over 22 lakh citizens) and Sickle Cell Disease (2.3 lakh). Additionally, more than 1.6 lakh blood donors registered, and 4.7 lakh new Ayushman/PM-JAY cards were issued.
Health camps have been collaboratively organized by central government institutes, medical colleges, and private entities, totaling 3,410 screening and specialty health camps, benefiting over 5.8 lakh citizens.
This initiative has been celebrated as a Jan Andolan across various states and Union Territories.
In Delhi, large health camps were established at Safdarjung Hospital, CGHS RK Puram, and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, offering TB, NCD, mental health, and maternal screenings.
In Gujarat, camps in Dahod, Kutch, and Navsari provided cancer screenings and NCD care, benefiting over 42,000 women directly, while in Jammu and Kashmir, large health camps in Srinagar and RS Pura saw significant community involvement during Sewa Pakhwada.
