Jaipur, May 7 (NationPress) A serious alert has been issued in all border regions of Rajasthan following India's airstrikes on terrorist bases located in Pakistan. Consequently, Bikaner and Jodhpur airports have been shut down.
Additionally, a holiday has been announced for schools today in border cities such as Bikaner, Barmer, and Jaisalmer as per the directives of the District Collector. In Bikaner, the leave of government employees has been revoked, and they have been instructed to remain at their headquarters.
India has executed airstrikes at nine locations in Pakistan and in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. One of the targeted sites was Bahawalpur, where the terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed has established hideouts.
Bahawalpur is situated roughly 100 km from the Rajasthan-Pakistan border.
Meanwhile, Air India announced via Twitter, "Given the current circumstances, we have cancelled all flights to and from the following locations: Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot until noon on May 7, pending further updates from authorities. Two international flights headed for Amritsar are being redirected to Delhi. We apologize for any inconvenience caused due to this unexpected disruption."
At around 2 a.m., the sounds of fighter jets were audible in various regions of Jaisalmer-Barmer.
Witnesses initially thought India was conducting exercises, but it was later confirmed that airstrikes had been carried out.
Additionally, officials reported that four flights bound for states near the Pakistan border were cancelled at Jaipur airport. Flight operations at Bikaner airport have also been halted.
Bikaner District Collector Namrata Vrishni has ordered that no leaves will be granted to any district officials or employees until further notice. A mock drill is scheduled for Wednesday in Bikaner.
In accordance with these orders, schools—both government and private—in the border district of Bikaner will also remain closed on Wednesday. Final exams currently underway have been postponed.
District Education Officer Ramgopal Sharma has issued these directives following the District Collector's orders. In the meantime, residents in the border areas of Rajasthan expressed their joy and were seen celebrating the destruction of terrorist hideouts, with people in Barmer stating that India has avenged its losses through these airstrikes.
