Jaipur, May 11 (NationPress) Following a recently declared ceasefire between India and Pakistan, the morning across the border regions of Barmer, Sriganganagar, Bikaner, and Jaisalmer in Rajasthan appeared serene and calm, as reported by officials.
However, tensions lingered along the Rajasthan border as sounds resembling explosions were detected in Jaisalmer, alongside reports of Pakistani drone activities in Barmer and Sriganganagar.
The Indian Army effectively intercepted and neutralized these aerial threats, averting possible harm and casualties, according to officials.
Local sources indicated that six loud explosions were heard from the western side of Jaisalmer around 11:37 p.m. on Saturday, instilling fear among the residents.
The precise origin of the blasts is still unverified.
Following the ceasefire announcement on Saturday, markets reopened in Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Phalodi, Bikaner, Sriganganagar, and Hanumangarh.
Nevertheless, by Saturday night, authorities reinstated blackout measures across nine districts, including Pali and Balotra, as a precaution against potential aerial strikes.
In Jodhpur, a planned blackout was enforced by local discoms from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m., with power restoration at 4:30 a.m.
During this blackout, residents were advised to turn off inverter lights.
The police promptly addressed reports of lights being on in certain homes, reminding citizens to observe security protocols.
In Barmer, District Collector Tina Dabi announced a new blackout on Saturday night, accompanied by persistent warning sirens.
The administration urged residents to return home and strictly follow blackout guidelines.
Within moments of the announcement via social media, local markets shuttered, and streets cleared as citizens complied with safety protocols.
The Jaisalmer administration extended the blackout period from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m., due to violations of the ceasefire.
Although multiple explosions were reported late Saturday night, there have been no reports of casualties or damages.
Authorities confirmed that as of Sunday morning, the situation remains calm and controlled across all affected districts.
Security forces are on high alert, with local administrations closely monitoring the border areas.
