Hyderabad, Oct 16 (NationPress) In a dramatic turn of events at the residence of Endowments and Forest Minister Konda Surekha in Hyderabad, a police team attempted to detain her former Officer on Special Duty (OSD) N. Sumanth. This occurred amid a growing conflict between two ministers in Telangana, with allegations of misconduct and corruption surfacing against Sumanth.
The police arrived seeking Sumanth, who had previously been dismissed from his role by the government.
Surekha’s daughter, Sushmita, confronted the officers dressed in plain clothes, making serious accusations against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and other senior Congress figures.
A Task Force police team responded to a tip-off regarding Sumanth’s presence at the minister's residence in Jubilee Hills.
Sushmita stepped outside and denied them entry, engaging in a heated debate with the police regarding the necessity for an arrest warrant.
Reports indicate that Surekha emerged from the house alongside Sumanth, departing in her vehicle.
In statements to the press, Sushmita claimed that certain top Congress leaders were orchestrating efforts to tarnish her family’s reputation. She accused her parents of being victims of a deliberate scheme.
Specific allegations were made against Chief Minister Reddy’s advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and MLA Kadiyam Srihari regarding their involvement in this conspiracy.
Sushmita revealed that they were informed on Wednesday about Sumanth's termination as OSD, amidst claims that he threatened an officer from Deccan Cements with a firearm for extortion. This incident reportedly occurred within the jurisdiction of Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy’s constituency, Huzurnagar.
Upon inquiring with the Chief Minister's advisor, Vem Narender Reddy, Sushmita stated that he claimed a complaint was lodged by Uttam Kumar Reddy, which the minister later denied.
She asserted that Rohin Reddy, a close aide of the Chief Minister, was also present during the meeting with Deccan Cements, questioning why no actions had been initiated against Sumanth.
Sushmita expressed worries that those behind this conspiracy might coerce Sumanth into declaring that he threatened a Deccan Cements employee at her father, Konda Murali’s behest. She referred to it as a plot to arrest her father.
Additionally, she pointed out that her father's gunman, a former Maoist, had already been dismissed, raising concerns over the scaling back of his security.
This OSD incident reflects the underlying tensions between Konda Surekha and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, which have intensified over a Rs 71 crore contract concerning Medaram Jatara works.
Surekha has previously accused Srinivas Reddy of interfering with the Medaram contract processes.
