Shimla, Jan 19 (NationPress) The Cabinet of Himachal Pradesh, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, convened on Monday to approve the establishment of a cutting-edge Cancer Care Centre at Dr Radhakrishnan Government Medical College located in Hamirpur town.
Additionally, the Cabinet sanctioned the formation of 11 new departments and authorized the recruitment of necessary personnel across various categories. An amendment to the Social Security (Pension and Allowance) Rule of 2010 was also agreed upon to ensure timely disbursement of social security pensions to beneficiaries.
The Cabinet endorsed the adoption of the National Policy on Geothermal Energy to promote exploration and development of the state’s untapped geothermal resources. It designated the Directorate of Energy as the primary agency responsible for implementing this policy and approved modifications to the Swaran Jayanti Energy Policy of 2021 to include geothermal energy guidelines.
Moreover, the Cabinet approved an ordinance to impose an ‘Orphan and Widow Cess’ on petrol and high-speed diesel at the point of first sale in the state, aimed at bolstering welfare initiatives for orphans and widows. This cess is designed to be non-burdensome for consumers while ensuring sufficient funding for the successful execution of these schemes.
In addition, four hydroelectric projects up to 25 MW were allocated to successful bidders following the tendering process. These projects include 6 MW Khauli-II, 24 MW Malana-III, 21.9 MW Manalsu, and 18 MW Dhancho.
The Cabinet also greenlit the construction of a 4.3-km Naddi Zipline Project near Dharamsala in Kangra district with an estimated budget of Rs 7.41 crore. Once completed, this zipline will be the longest in Asia and is set to be a significant draw for tourists.
Furthermore, the Cabinet approved amendments to the Senior Resident Doctor Policy, establishing a quota of 66.66 percent for in-service candidates and 33.33 percent for direct candidates. It was also decided that seat distribution would be flexible based on the availability of eligible candidates.
Finally, the Cabinet agreed to fill 11 positions of Assistant Commissioner in the State Taxes and Excise Department.
