Shimla, Oct 14 (NationPress) In a disturbing development, Brijeshwar Kashyap, son of the former BJP MP Virender Kashyap from Shimla, has been charged with allegedly raping a woman under the guise of marriage in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, according to police reports released on Tuesday.
The accused, who is a dentist by profession, is currently under investigation. Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh informed the press that a case has been registered under Sections 69 (sexual intercourse by employing deceitful means) and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
The victim reported that the accused had engaged in intimate relations with her, promising marriage as a pretext. However, upon pressing him for marriage, she discovered that he was already in a marital relationship.
In a separate incident, the Himachal Pradesh Police apprehended a man accused of sexually assaulting a 25-year-old woman at his ayurvedic clinic in Solan. The accused, Ram Kumar, who is the elder brother of BJP chief Rajeev Bindal, allegedly took advantage of his position during a medical consultation.
The woman claimed that during her visit on October 7, Kumar held her hand and inquired about her sexual health. Despite her refusal to undergo a physical examination, he allegedly proceeded to assault her under the pretense of a medical procedure.
Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh stated that the police acted on the victim's complaint, filed at the women's police station on October 8, and made the arrest based on forensic evidence and victim testimony.
