Raipur, Nov 28 (NationPress) The annual All-India Conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police (DGP-IGP) commenced on Friday in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in the city early Friday to inaugurate this three-day significant event, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to arrive in Raipur later in the evening.

In anticipation of these high-profile visits, extensive security measures have been implemented throughout the city and Nava Raipur. The Prime Minister’s convoy will operate under a comprehensive security umbrella that includes the NSG, SPG, and local police forces.

As per the official itinerary, PM Modi is set to touch down at Mana Airport around 7 PM on Friday and will head directly to the Speaker’s House in Nava Raipur, where he will be accommodated during his visit.

This occasion marks the Prime Minister’s first overnight stay in Chhattisgarh in several years, and it is only the second instance that the DGP-IGP conference is being hosted in this state.

PM Modi will participate in the closing sessions of the conference on Saturday and Sunday, where he is scheduled to present the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service to selected officers.

Sources indicate that PM Modi may also visit the BJP state office Ekatma Parisar in Raipur during his stay. Furthermore, he is likely to engage with 25–30 bright students from classes 9 to 12 hailing from various districts of Chhattisgarh.

Since 2014, the Prime Minister has exhibited a strong interest in the annual DGP-IGP conference, often dedicating two to three days to engage with police leadership.

He has advocated for open discussions on internal security challenges and encouraged innovative approaches to modern policing. These closed-door sessions and thematic discussions enable DGPs and IGPs to directly communicate ground realities and propose solutions to the Prime Minister and Home Minister regarding pressing issues such as Left-Wing Extremism (LWE), border security, cybercrime, and police modernization.

By selecting Chhattisgarh, a state that has experienced significant progress in law and order and a marked decrease in LWE violence in recent years, to host the conference, the Centre has conveyed a strong message regarding the evolving security strategy in the region.

With both the Prime Minister and Home Minister dedicating substantial time to Raipur, the 2025 edition of this conference is anticipated to be among the most pivotal in recent history. The event will conclude on Sunday evening, following which PM Modi will return to Delhi.
