Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 14 (NationPress) Kerala's blatant disregard for judicial mandates was evident when a gigantic hoarding was installed near the Cantonment Gate of the State Secretariat, directly challenging the repeated orders from the Kerala High Court.

The court has consistently reprimanded district authorities for their inability to eliminate illegal and unauthorized hoardings from public areas.

Recently, the Kerala High Court inquired whether the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation secretary was ready to provide a report regarding the count of such unauthorized and illegal structures within the city. Despite these interventions, the violations persist.

The CPI-M-supported Kerala Secretariat Employees Association has put up the board to announce the inauguration of a building this Thursday, celebrating their association's Golden Jubilee.

The advertisement highlights Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who will be inaugurating the event, alongside V. Joy, the CPI(M) Thiruvananthapuram district secretary and MLA representing the Varkala constituency.

Additionally, it features an image of the late CPI(M) state secretary and politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, whose portrait will be unveiled during the ceremony.

This act of defiance comes just months after the High Court strongly criticized the widespread installation of unauthorized boards, describing it as a sign of lawlessness.

"Thiruvananthapuram is our capital city. If such lawlessness prevails, who is to be held accountable? Is it the High Court? A contempt case against officials might be the only way to awaken them from their slumber. Those in power seem indifferent to the law. This level of lawlessness is now characterizing Kerala as the so-called 'new Kerala'," the court had remarked in October of the previous year.

Ironically, the illegal hoarding is located at the entrance of the Secretariat's Cantonment Gate, a path frequently traversed by Chief Minister Vijayan himself.
