New Delhi, June 20 (NationPress) Reflecting Iran's escalating worries regarding the visit of Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir to the United States, Mohamed Javad Hosseini, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Iranian Embassy in India, expressed on Friday that Tehran hopes Islamabad will refrain from taking any actions against Tehran and will instead stand united with Iran against Israeli aggression.
"I sincerely hope they (Pakistan) will not engage in such actions... Currently, there are numerous misleading and biased claims circulating in the media. However, I wish for Pakistan to stand with Iran against Israeli hostility," Hosseini remarked to reporters in New Delhi when asked about speculation that Munir and US President Donald Trump were discussing the potential use of Pakistani territory for operations against Iran amid ongoing tensions.
Munir met with Trump at the White House on Wednesday, an engagement initially set for one hour but extended for over two hours, as reported by the Pakistani military's media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Subsequent reports indicated that during this meeting, the United States sought access to military bases in Pakistan to facilitate operations against Iran.
Hosseini labeled the Israeli strikes as a "clear infringement of sovereignty and international standards" and urged India, as a prominent leader of the Global South, to denounce these actions.
"We expect all nations, including India, to condemn this aggression, not solely on behalf of Iran, but to prevent the justification of military actions by other countries against their neighbors for unfounded reasons. Failure to denounce this assault provides those nations with a green light," added Hosseini.
In light of the recent tensions between Iran and Israel, India has urged both parties to exercise restraint and called for utilizing existing diplomatic channels to de-escalate the situation and address the root causes.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated on June 13, "India maintains close and amicable relations with both nations and is prepared to offer all possible assistance."
