Agartala, June 20 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, stated on Friday that his administration is dedicated to delivering effective governance to all communities throughout the state. During a governmental event, he announced the inauguration and foundation laying of several projects totaling Rs 612 crore in 2025, up to June.
During his address, Saha emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing the well-being of tribal populations across various dimensions, with a significant focus on infrastructure development.
On the same day, the Chief Minister inaugurated 19 development initiatives in the South Tripura district, valued at Rs 32 crore. Among these projects is a newly established 100-bed tribal girls' hostel at the Sabroom Girls’ Higher Secondary School. Saha remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is striving to fulfill the vision of a 'Viksit Bharat'.
“The era of Amrit Kaal has commenced, wherein the primary objective is to enhance the quality of life for all citizens. This includes infrastructure advancement and ensuring self-respect, socio-economic growth, and security. A unified effort from all states will facilitate the creation of a prosperous India. Infrastructure development remains crucial for us,” Saha added.
The BJP-led government is focused on advancing infrastructure in Tripura, aiming for the welfare of the populace through transparency.
In the fiscal year 2024–25, approximately Rs 81 crore was allocated for the renovation of around 346 schools, while Rs 264 crore has been designated for constructing new facilities in 30 additional schools for the financial year 2025–26, as stated by Saha, who also oversees the Education portfolio.
“We prioritize school infrastructure development, ensuring our children can learn in a conducive environment,” he remarked.
Saha also highlighted the government’s ongoing initiatives aimed at uplifting Janajati communities (tribals), who make up roughly one-third of Tripura’s population of over four million.
He further noted that prior to the BJP administration assuming control in Tripura in 2018, the state had only 4,000 to 5,000 self-help groups (SHGs), a number that has surged to over 56,000 since then.
The government continues to prioritize the enhancement of the agricultural and tourism sectors. Alongside infrastructure enhancement, improving life quality remains paramount, he concluded.
