New Delhi, June 20 (NationPress) On the International Day of Yoga this Friday (June 21), the Archaeological Survey of India, alongside the Ministry of Ayush, will orchestrate Yoga sessions at 81 centrally protected monuments. In celebration, entry to all ASI monuments will be complimentary for the public on this day.
In line with this year’s theme of ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’, this magnificent Yoga festival seeks to highlight the enduring link between India’s cultural heritage and its ancient wellness practices.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the theme during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address in March 2025, emphasizing Yoga’s importance in cultivating harmony within ourselves and with our surroundings.
Thousands of individuals will gather to practice Yoga at renowned historical locations like Purana Qila (Delhi), Gol Gumbaz (Karnataka), Konark Sun Temple (Odisha), Chittorgarh Fort (Rajasthan), Elephanta Caves (Maharashtra), and 76 other ASI sites. These sessions will focus on the significance of holistic health and environmental awareness inherent in yogic philosophy.
The celebrations will feature notable figures such as the Union Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah at Adalaj Vav, Ahmedabad; Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri at Safdarjung Tomb, Delhi; Minister of Commerce and Industries Piyush Goyal at Kanheri Caves, Mumbai; and Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi at the Group of temples at Pattadakal, along with other eminent dignitaries at various sites.
The main event will take place in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, and will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It will be live-streamed across India, showcasing the Yoga celebrations occurring nationwide.
Yoga is among the many invaluable gifts that India has offered to the world. Recognizing its importance, the United Nations declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga in 2014 during a session of the General Assembly.
