New Delhi, May 27 (NationPress) Yoga is not merely an exercise routine; it is a revered ancient practice that fosters a connection between the mind and body, asserted Prataprao Jadhav, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Ayush, on Tuesday.
This statement was made during the inauguration of a 25-day countdown event leading up to the International Day of Yoga 2025 in Puducherry.
Emphasizing the transformative potential of Yoga, Jadhav highlighted its essential role in enhancing both physical and mental health.
“Yoga is an ancient art of healthy living that merges mind and body. Those who embrace Yoga experience tranquility, strength, and clarity,” he remarked.
He further noted that “this year’s theme ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’ encapsulates our shared dream for a healthier planet and humanity.”
“Yoga is vital in our present and is crucial for a healthy future,” the MoS emphasized.
More than 6,000 Yoga enthusiasts attended the Yoga Mahotsav, which took place at the scenic Gandhi Thidal on Goubert Avenue, Beach Road. The event was organized by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), under the Ministry of Ayush.
“Yoga is an ancient science of our nation. It represents the union of body and mind, promoting mental resilience and physical health. Our ancestors have preserved this wisdom for millennia,” said Thiru. K. Kailashnathan, Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
Since its establishment by the United Nations in 2015, the International Day of Yoga, celebrated annually on June 21st, has evolved into a worldwide cultural and wellness movement, following India's proposal in 2014.
“Yoga is more than a physical exercise; it is a journey of self-discovery, inner peace, and harmony with nature,” remarked Chief Minister of Puducherry Thiru. N. Rangasamy.
A highlight of the event was the significant increase in registrations on the Yoga Sangam Portal, launched during the 50-day countdown to IDY 2025 in Nashik. To date, over 12,000 individuals have signed up on the portal, showcasing the growing interest in Yoga throughout India.
