Local officials, dignitaries, and residents also participated in this session.
“Yoga is India’s treasured gift to the world, embodying a time-tested and holistic approach to wellness,” Pradhan remarked. He expressed appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his unwavering commitment to promoting yoga as a worldwide movement for harmony and peace.
Pradhan encouraged everyone, particularly the youth, to adopt yoga for better health and well-being.
The Ministry of Education also coordinated large-scale yoga sessions at the Delhi University Convention Centre and three other notable locations: Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, Bihar; Mysuru Palace in Mysuru, Karnataka; and the Somanathapura Temple premises in Somanathapura, Karnataka.
The 11th International Day of Yoga is being celebrated nationwide and worldwide with tremendous enthusiasm and a spirit of unity.
This year's global theme for the International Yoga Day is 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health', emphasizing the deep connection between individual wellness and the health of our planet.
Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan noted that the essence of an asana (yoga posture) is rooted in sustaining a stable and healthy body. He took part in a mass yoga event at Pusa Campus, New Delhi.
Reflecting on his journey, Chouhan shared a transformative experience from 1998, when he sustained severe injuries in a major accident affecting eight areas of his body.
“At that moment, I could hardly envision walking again,” he recounted. “But through yoga, I found a pathway to recovery. Today, I lead a healthy and normal life free of the enduring impacts of those injuries, thanks to the remarkable power of yoga.”
Chouhan urged individuals to view yoga not merely as a one-day event, but as a consistent practice that fosters long-term wellness.
The yoga day also featured grand celebrations at Purana Qila, Qutub Minar Complex, and other prominent ASI-protected monuments, reinforcing the importance of yoga as a national initiative.
